How does the honeymoon period affect you

I have just been confirmed as being type 1 diabetes and the consultant said I am in my honeymoon period, what happens when I'm out of this period, how will it affect my managing my diabetes, at the moment I'm on levemir and nova rapid and take metformin twice a day ?

My understanding is you still have some insulin producing cells in your body during the honeymoon period. These will slowly die off (because diabetes is an auto-immune disease). As they die, your body will produce less and less of its own insulin so you will need to inject more. The timescale of the honeymoon period varies from person to person. It could be months. It could be years.
If you continue to monitor your BG you will learn to manage it and likely to gradually see a change.
