How heredity is type 1

My husband is type 1 with no family history at all
We have a son does anyone know what r the chances of our little boy developing type 1 also and if yes is there anything as a mother i can do to prevent/prolong this from happing this might be a silly question but still feel the need to ask it x x x:!:
