I was wondering how high your BS can go? I'm pre diabetic and I get so shocked if mine goes over 8. What is considered high and very high? What is the highest anyone's has been?
When the doctor first checked me I was over 30. His meter just said HI. Not sure how over 30 it was but he said it was the highest reading he had ever seen.
It's a bit erratic now and again but I manage it as best I can. I was working three jobs when I was first diagnosed so thought I was just tired through doing to much. I wasn't that scared at first as I didn't really know what it meant.
I've read of some very high levels reported on the internet especially when people are first diagnosed as T1. High levels sound much higher in mg/dl (used in much of the rest of the world)so you will find levels of 700-1000 mg/dl mentioned on the net
(38-55mmol/l). How many of these are really accurate, who knows?
Untreated/uncontrolled /neglected type 2 can result in a, relatively rare, condition called Hyperosmolar Hyperglycaemic State . The rise in glucose levels in this case is over weeks and is insidious . According to DUK it will often be above 40mmol/l
Hi. Anything over around 11 mmol will result in sugar in the urine so I regard that as one reference point where the body is taking serious action. Beyond that I've been over 20 at diagnosis and sometimes still creep into the teens.
