Yes I run, lift some weight once a week, play tennis few times a week. I don't have much weight to loose so it's all body fat which I need to shift and hence want to go low carb so fat can be burned off.that number of carbs will never get you into Keto. What kinds of things are you eating? are you exercising at all?
I only started tetsting for last 4 weeks and lowest o have seen is 5.5 on one afternoon before lunch.Be careful of how many carbs you're eating otherwise give it a week or two. have you seen lower numbers previously?
Thanks . I will invest in ketone meter. I have the sticks who show pink colour so I guess I am producing ketone but not much.Buy. Ketone meter. Give yourself more time. The fast has brought down you BG which shows it can be done by giving your pancreas a rest. As @Engineer88 stated watch the carbs. Good luck
There is quite a bit of debate on this matter. When are you in keto? From what I have read I would suggest 0.6 - 3.0 appears to be a good place to be. You can have higher readings (usually fasting). Thanks . I will invest in ketone meter. I have the sticks who show pink colour so I guess I am producing ketone but not much.
What level of ketone you aim for ?
Thanks. I will lower carb even more but I am running out of things to eat except eggs butterThere is quite a bit of debate on this matter. When are you in keto? From what I have read I would suggest 0.6 - 3.0 appears to be a good place to be. You can have higher readings (usually fasting).
The most accurate readings you will get come from the blood finger prick meters for ketones.
This is what Dr Stephen Phinney has written on the virta site. Interesting stuffYou might find this helpful. Type ones find BG comes down almost instantly with keto, but I believe it can take a week or three for the effects to kick in for type twos.

Agreed. I will just cut down carbs and ear more fat. As my other posts have said, I want to burn body fat ( currently at 24%) and gain muscles/weight.Don't worry about the levels of ketones - ketosis is a perfectly natural process, and it will be happily going on from time to time, more and more as you lower carbs, you don't have to push it.
When I went back to low carb after a long period on 'healthy' carbs it took a little while to get down below 8mmol/l after meals, but then I went lower without changing anything, then my numbers became really erratic for a short while - something was obviously going on but I am not sure what - it must have been good as my numbers dropped down fairly low where they have stayed, being normal at 6 months from diagnosis.
I started off with 50 gm of carbs a day as a maximum, now down to 40 to try to lose more fat.
nhs2111 is type 2, without insulin.Try increasing your long acting insulin. It should bring the bs levels down
Quick update, this morning I am 5.7 fasting. This is after first few consecutive days of real low carb without alcohol as well. In ketosis as per the strips
