I am a T2 diet and exercise controlled, diagnosed in 2009. I was wondering how long I can get away without going on medication? have I gone overdue?

I'm sure that very much depends on the control you have managed by modifying your lifestyle. What sort of HbA1c are you managing at the moment?

Personally, I'd like to go forever without meds, but we'll see how it all unfolds.

My last HBAiC 6 months ago was 6.5% and the nurse was ready to put me on Metformin but i told her that i would like to carry on losing weight before going on medication if i can help it - i need to lose 5 - 6 stones

If it was me...I went straight on to metformin sr, quickly followed by the LCHF diet
my thought was to get my body within normal range ASAP. As and when I can I will reduce my meds, as the diet works its magic

I was also wondering if i have so much weight to lose, will i actually be able to reverse my diabetes or is that another story?

I don't know, I'm hoping I can get it into remission when I get rid of my weight.
I think T2 are wasting their time trying to lose weight while having high BG because it's the high BG and insulin resistance that is getting the liver to lay down fat
I think the BG should be the first issue, really the weight lose should be secondary and a side effect of having well controlled diabetes and a sensible diet

My partner's mother was classed as pre-diabetic and by losing 3 stones in weight it put her back into the non-diabetic category but i think she 'nipped it in the bud' just in time. I feel quite annoyed that i wasn't given that chance to 'nip it in the bud' as i was never tested for BG levels even though there is a history of diabetes on my mother's side - the GP never flagged it up.

have you got a BG meter yet? a lot here use the code free from amazon uk
Yes i do have one but to be honest i don't test that often because i have to buy my test strips which i usually get cheaper on Ebay but i will need to buy some more soon.
