There's only a certain amount of options, and anything after 25 years is just astounding! People are welcome to post a reply if they've been diagnosed for longer :thumbup:CarbsRok said:Why stop at 25 + there are people here who have been diagnosed nearly 60 years?
Other options given have only 4 or 5 years between them yet the 25 + could mean anything.
I have been diagnosed for 4 years + but to be honest with you the help and advice I have been given ( not ) has been non exsistant. I am the one having to find out how many blood tests I need a year, when I need to take my wee in, etc etc . I was given a blood monitoring device then told I do not need to test my bloods. After all this time I am STILL totally confused and I am now the worst diabetic on the planet as I eat basically what I want. I am on Metformin 850mg and Gliclazide 80 mg, I have no idea what the '' 8 '' tests Im supposed to have yearly as nobody has sat me down and explained this. Trying to get an appointment with my diabetic nurse at the surgery is like trying to find Lord Lucan!!!! Arggggghhhhhh. :evil:Giverny said:Thread title says it all - how long have you been diagnosed with diabetes? Choose a poll option.

I keep fit myself and my mum was T1 and caught me early when I was 13. My diet isn't great and I spent approx 10 years not caring about it but now keep a good check on myself. When I was diagnised at 13 it really ruined my confidence in everything but now I just live a normal life. Have a young son and do worry about him as it is hereditary. Did my first finger test on him a couple of weeks ago, he is only 3, he didn't feel a thing result was normal.

I am trying really hard not to test my little boy, but is is soooo difficult, he was drinking tonnes the other day and I really had to stop myself from testing, he was just thirsty... When is it right to test? arrgghh.. I find this part of being a diabetic mum the hardest!
