How long have you been LCHF ...

I've been eating LCHF/Primal for just over 2 years. Don't normally count carbs anymore, but I estimate anywhere from 60-80g per day, sometimes lower, rarely higher. I occasionally eat apples and small bananas without a huge rise, but mostly stick with oranges/mandarins and berries. My weight has been very stable on this diet - it works really well for weight maintenance for me.

Been doing LCHF for 2 years, got a bit liberal during Xmas including some low carb marzipan (dangerous) and dark chocolate, nut butter etc, now back on a stricter version (<10 g carbs per day) since 4-5 weeks and weight coming off again, I'm also a bit high on my ketones - getting restless but ok.

I'm going for it ... started today.

I have found this to be a good LcHf diet, except the beer. They advise you not to drink beer "Beer: Liquid bread. Full of rapidly absorbed carbs, unfortunately." My meter tells me the opposite. One beer, with food, lowers my BG levels. 1 1/2 pints increases it!!..... But worth experimenting with beer. Even Guinness is fine. The Bernstein diet allows for one lite beer with food.... But no fruit!! And a few other no-no's which are ok on the dietdoctor diet.

Diagnosed T2 in sept 2013, BS levels 20+. BMI 22, age 58. Requested a GAD test in November, came back very high 2,000+, doc said I would be T1 within weeks, but presently still LADA taking no insulin or medication, and striving to keep my BS readings one hour after meals under 7.8 in order to keep as many insulin making pancreas beta cells as possible for as long as I can.

I've been trying to eat low carb for about 30 years, but it has been a slowly evolving journey, with plenty of failures, distractions and non strict periods on the way.

It probably more accurate to say that I eat to my meter, rather than low carbing - because I sometimes have 2 meals of green smoothie a day, which is probably 9-13 portions of fruit and veg. So that isn't really low carb, is it?... But it probably only puts my BG meter up by 1-2 at each of those meals. And I don't count my carbs. Although I pay close attention to the carbs listed on food labelling.

But I call myself a low carber, or LCHFer if it makes sense in the context, because it's becoming a much more understandable term.

And then, of course, there are the very low carb days.

I just muddle along, really. And I seem to have a visceral aversion to sticking to any set of rules
Me too. Hate rules. And routines. Not great for being a teacher! Lol!

Was the tea decaff?

I sometimes find that after a lot of exercise my BS goes up until I eat something substantial.
