Hi friends,

I’ve been struggling the last few weeks after a pretty successful 8 weeks post T2 diagnosis.

Started off with a slice of bread here and there and quickly snowballed.

I’ve noticed my bloods over the past few days are hovering around 8 a few hours after eating.

I’m starting back up on LCHF tomorrow.

My question is how long is too long to stay outside of the 4-6 zone ?

Cheers,

Jay

I shouldn't have thought a few days in the 8s would be a cause for concern. Put it behind you and get back on the waggon.

The recommendation is, as far as I am aware, 4-7 with a max of 7.8. However, we are human and we do cave occasionally and as long as we see that we are caving and put things to rights then we are doing the right thing.

Thanks Guzzler, yeah I know I’ve been able to control it before so getting back to sorting it before it gets outta hand

I was tempted with a bowl of sphagetti at one time and my bg levels rose to 8.6 and stayed at that level for about 10-12 days.

It really depends on how much your beta cells are functioning and secreting insulin.

I was definitely surprised that my levels stayed above 8 for a disproportionate (in my opinion) amount of time - will work to get things back on track and not be so complacent going forwards

It’s important to remind ourselves to test, test and test our bg levels before eating something we’re unsure of and 2 hours later to see if it spikes our bg levels or not!

8.6 for days? That is pretty scary.
