How long the effects last?

Can anybody tell me how long the effect of different factors ( meals , exercise , sleeplessness, stress ...) on blood sugar readings last? For example, if I had taken rich food consecutively for couple of meals ,does it mean that it can take some more days to bring the BS level back to normal? Or may be with exercise this can be brought back to normal immediately? In short my question is whether there is any cumulative influence of what we eat for past few days on the blood sugar levels?

In my case I find that there is one effect worth mentioning. Needless to say, if I party my blood sugars are high. The morning after readings will not be as low as usual for a few days. They come down at between 0.1 and 0,5 per day until I am back to normal.

The only thing I can think of that might account for this is that whereas we all worry about the food we have just put into our stomachs maybe we should remember that we might still have some in our gut from previous meals/drinks.

Thanks Squiire. I fully agree with your observations. What about effect of exercise? Does the BS level backs to normal after say 3-45 minitues of exercise done after heavy meal in the party?
It would be interesting to listen to other forum members to know how is the case with other diabetic patients.

I walk each morning and the levels come down as a result. However, if I am in the after party period they start higher than usual and finish higher than usual.

I walk approx. three miles each morning.

Exercise after food definitely brings my BG down quicker than slobbing in front of the TV.
Unfortunately I prefer the TV. Or the computer. Or anything that indulges my inner couch cauliflower.
So I tend to just eat food that doesn't spike me, and exercise earlier in the day - dog walking and treking to and from work.

I guess we are all different.
