How Many Carbs.....

Type2 insulin dep on Humalog mix 25. I eat Less than 20g
most days. BGs steady between 4.6 and 5.8, with the occasional 3.8 following a fish meal. Prob should add a little more carb but am happy in my diabetic world, have lost weight including 4ins from my waist, no cravings now, no hunger pangs and enough energy to walk as far as I like with my dog. I do sometimes have a little siesta but that's a rather delicious privilege of retirement

I like posts like this because I can get ideas and see how strict you are and compare my days food, I think you do well to be honest.

I have between 20 and 70 g a day of carbs. I love nuts!

I am trying to keep as low as possible but I do like the jelly and cream, i dont have a lot but its still high in fat!!!!!!! same as the chocolate nuts and almost bounty, and i think that maybe quinoa I am having too much I am not sure about that yet..i need to do the carb maths.

100g today for me, with a 40 minute run at lunch and an hours yoga in the evening.

I would happily take it lower, but I think that would restrict my ability to exercise.

Breakfast - bowl of porridge with a few berries, made with water and almond milk - 30g
Lunch - omlette with cheese and mushrooms on a small slice of toast, 9-bar peanut - 25g
Dinner - 4 oatcakes, cheese, sardines, small apple and peanut butter, a few prunes. - 45g
Snacks - probably not necesary but a couple of handfuls of nuts.

You'd be surprised, Dave. I don't do as much exercise as you, but before work I'll swim a kilometre or run for 30 mins on nothing but a protein shake.

Hi Hawnet. Don't worry too much about the fat; it's the carbs that affect you most

That is good news Daibell, I still have to keep the fats low and I consider that little bit bit of cream is within the law (I had a high cholesterol figure at the same I had my high sugar...7.7 chol and 16.9 bg), the cream and a few eggs through the week, maybe a small bit of cheese.

Round about 100g a day although can vary anything from 50g up to 150g, depends on what I'm doing excersice, or just wanting a treat. I do have the odd occasions when I go out for dinners christmas etc where it goes up to 300, for example on Thursday I'm going back to Northern ireland. It's physically impossible to go to anyone elses house and not be offered a sandwich, biscuit, full meal etc I'm perfectly happy to oblige especially with all the different types of spuds, roast, mash, new, sweet. And not forgetting the 15 desserts on offer! mmmmm..... baggy pants are packed!
