How many NovoRapid Pump Cartridges?

My GP has put 5 cartridges (1 box) of NovoRapid pump carts on repeat, each contains a whopping 1.6 ml.

But while on MDI I got 10 cartridges (2 boxes) of 3 ml cartridges.

I started pumping on Monday. Did a set change etc on Wednesday with the nurse, who suggested changing my cartridge every three days when I change the cannula and tubing to make things easier.

That means on average I'm using just under 5 cartridges per week, give or take.

Just tried to order more on line and it says I can't order more until 18th March! Do the GPs not look at the size of the cartridges?

I am going to ask for 20 cartridges per month on repeat, how many do you all get on repeat?

I get four boxes now, had to do same as you as my doctor had no idea how long each lasted.

I think I am on a different pump to you - the Animas Vibe requires me to fill the pump cartridges from a vial. Each vial contains 10ml which lasts a couple of weeks.
I don't understand your logic - if you change your cartridge every 3 days, 5 cartridges should last 2 weeks.
However, like you and @Chas C my GP had no idea about what to prescribe with an insulin pump: my diabetes nurse sent a letter telling them one vial at a time was stupid (if it gets damaged, I have no backup) and the GP increased the prescription immediately.

I use 10ml Humalog vials in my Medtronic 640g. I order 3 boxes at a time and they generally last about 2 weeks per vial. I keep Humalog 3ml cartridges and 1 Lantus pen in the fridge for backup. I always take these with me if I'm away from home overnight. Last year my pump failed and had to result to both pens until a new pump arrived.

I use 3x10ml vials a month but it was written in a standard letter from the diabetic nurse to the gp as they dont know how much you use

Thank you everybody, my nurse suggested 20 carts of 1.6ml for the insight on repeat, finally GP has increased my prescription.
