Type of diabetes
Type 2
Treatment type
Tablets (oral)
Now spring is on the horizon the caravan has come out of mothballs I'm curious about how many Gliclazide and metaformin I can be prescribed on one prescription currently I get 28 Gliclazide and 90 metaformin my dose is 1 Gliclazide and 3 metaformin a day
My doctor has given me the maximum amount of pain killing drugs and antidepressants he can prescribe at any one time but I fear the district nurse who is looking after my diabetes and hypertension will not be as helpful
We often go away at very short notice and for random lebaths of time so I am curious as to who is prescribed what amount of tablets
Hope you can understand my rambling post

I get 2 months at a time of all my meds including gliclizide and metformin

I have always gradually moved my prescription date forward by a day or so each month to build up a stock to cover holidays
Me too I now always have a 2 week supply in hand so to speak

Ok thanks for your replies I'm not seeing the nurse for another 3 weeks but will order my prescription early for this month then ask for more tablets on my next visit ( although I don't have a lot of faith I will get anymore)
I'm rapidly losing all faith in the nurse since she changed my blood pressure tablets and didn't tell me not to eat grapefruit nor did the chemist I found out reading on the Internet then asking the chemist.
Anyway thanks for your replies

Why not just tell her what's on your mind, and your motivation for wanting a few spare tablets? If the tablets you are on are very usual to you, and unlikely to change, there is likely to be little danger of too many being wasted. I could see a potential issue if you wanted 6 months at a time, or the like, but even then, surely a discussion would be worthwhile.

I generally find people react better to a truthful discussion that discovering they're being manipulated into a certain position.

I went abroad for 6 months a few years ago.
Wrote the doc a letter asking for 6 months of meds and explaining why.

The prescription was waiting for me 2 days later.

I get a month's worth per prescription. I order my repeats online and just add a note if I need to re-order early to cover holidays, or possible extra dispensing delay times times like Christmas/New year.
