How much sugar should you have a day?

Asked by Scott on Facebook during the 7pm-8pm live chat with Dr Hilary Jones. Got a question? Join in and ask it here.

There is no need to have an added synthetic sugar to your food at all as healthy food such as fruit and starchy foods as well as milk contain natural sugar. Adding sugar is unnecessary pandering to a sweet tooth and adding no nutritional value. Since diabetes is basically a disorder where the body is unable to handle sugar, it is especially important to avoid taking on board any unnecessary amounts.
