I'd just turned 27. When I was told two weeks ago. But had gestational 2 years ago and was classed as borderline previous to having my daughter.

I was diagnosed at 29. I'm still that age, and struggling to find the right medication for me. Tried 3x 500mg Metformin, then added 1x gliclazide which made me sick. Followed by Metformin with Sitagliptin, which caused shortness of breath (I'm also asthmatic).

Now my on 3 x 850mg metformin for a week until Friday. My GP is optimistic this will bring my blood glucose under control, but I've had sickness and diarrhoea since commencing the higher dose. Ho hum!

Diabetes, aniseed, diets.
I was 41 and diagnosed while in hospital in March 2011. I suspect I had had it for a while though. When I was diagnosed my bs was 19.8 and my HA1C 11.5  I have better control now thanks to 4 x Metfomin a day, losing two stone (I still have four stone to go) and trying to behave diet-wise. I have also taken up swimming a couple of times a week (I am starting gently so I am more likely to keep it going).

A big hug to everyone on this board. Diabetes is a proper pain and to get it in your 20s is rotten.

Hi I was 38 years old when diagnosed. My mother was diagnosed when she was 45 and my brother when he was 46, so its well embedded in our family!
