how to gain weight

anyone have any idea how to gain weight without affecting sugar levels. my bgs are excellent controlled but my weight just keeps plumating. i eat all the nuts yogurt etc to no avail. i exercise to keep levels stable but this obviously burns calories. any one HELP :cry:
 
I would imagine this is where a dietitian would be useful to discuss your concerns. Are you certain that there isn't anything else that may be causing your weight loss, if unsure I would discuss this with your gp.

My doctor assures me that we all plateau at some point! :roll:

I have managed to stop the loss by eating quite a lot of cheese, nuts, seeds and cream but it does seem a bit odd eating like this. :shock:
 
Me too. I now eat three meals and two snacks a day. it seems I am always eating but I am maintaining weight at 8st 6lbs now with fingers permanently crossed. Same as Synonym: nuts, cheese and also cold meats for snacks. I feel really brilliantly okay, so the "diet" doesn't seem to be a problem, I'm just wanting to keep on the weight, like you, bedshaped! I don't do much exercise beyond the normal daily stuff though, or I really would struggle again. Good luck - but as Noblehead says, if you're not able to manage it, do see your GP.
 
I need to gain weight too it drives me mad all the well meaning non diabetics who feel the need to tell me I am getting too thin.
Tried adding cream and cheese ect but this has raised my cholesterol and the nurse is not happy sugars are good though,it sort of feels like you think you are doing well then get shot down.
 
I need to gain over 1 stone Iam eating lots of cream etc but my colesterol has come down. I am reduceed carbs to keep my bgs down .I went to see a dietician who prescribed Calogen which is pure calories no carbs or protien I have only had this for a week but I will post the results. CAROL
 
Sorry forgot to say I am not taking statins for colesterol but I am taking plant sterols .Also I have posted more about Calogen on medicine ? post.Carol

I know what you mean! :roll:

'They' also assume that I am deliberately setting out to lose weight and say that I will make myself ill if I am not careful which I find totally ludicrous. :evil: I am being very careful about my food intake but with the best will in the world the weight still comes down if I don't keep the higher fat intake going - and that is not always easy. If I eat more carbs then my BG levels go up and I feel ill so I know what I prefer!

I have a theory that everyone is used to people being much more plump nowadays so we should all be aware that lean is not necessarily thin.

How old are you? For years hubby tried to gain weight. The harder he tried the more he seemed to loose. he then got to 50 and started to gain a bit. Now at 60 the doctor tells him he is over weight. I appreciate it is as hard to come up to an ideal weight as it is to slim down to it!
 
I have the same problem but have been delighted to find that Dreamfields pasta does not raise carbs like ordinary pasta and I have put some weight on, I also eat walnuts and almonds (although I have recently read that walnuts don't put weight on) and my blood pressure and cholesterol levels are good. I have put on about 4 lbs in the past few weeks.
 
hi caroline im 37. ive found that whisky is good to put on weight firstly it lowers blood sugars so you can get a way with a bit more while eating and also its empty calories. i think its about 110 calories per shot. shame i couldnt just have a few shots with eevery thing i ate can you imagine by the end of the day :lol: brazil nuts are good aswell but high in fat same as the scratchings. i make a flax bread thats high calorie low carb which is quite nice with marmite or sometimes i have a slice of that and a slice of nimble. being that the flaxbread has so much protein and fat in it slows the carb from the nimble.
