Type 2 How to get bg down quickly?

A friend phoned me for advice, his 82 year old mother has type 2 and is on Metformin .
Her bedtime reading is 29 , any advice ...

I would ring 111 as her blood sugars are way too high.

Thank you for replying her bg is down to 12.2 now ,doctor has been out to see her.
