Just curious, why do you need 30g of fibre p/dReally struggling to cut carbs but still get enough fibre (30g per day).
I have flaxseed but don’t fancy eating 100g every day of the stuff. I have psyllium and chia which are both vile but I can force a bit down if I have to.
A lot of things high in fibre (lentils, whole grains etc) are also high in carbs. Lots of people advising me to eat eggs and high fat foods, which is fine but they’re all low fibre.
Interested in advice from those who have found ways to get both low carb and high fibre. For me I have to do both somehow!
Many thanks
I get gut pain without enough fibre. I used to struggle with it for years and porridge with wheat bran every day has kept in under control. Now I can’t have oats looking for alternatives and eggs and cheese won’t do ItJust curious, why do you need 30g of fibre p/d
Ground linseeds are nice. Linwood is a good brand. Chia seeds are much less disgusting when soaked in kefir or yoghurt or something first and then served with berries and cream. Psyllium is just plan vile, as you say, and the only way I can get it down is in capsule form. How low carb are you? I don’t eat grains or potatoes if I can help it, and avoid sugar, obviously, but find room for beans and lentils at least daily. If you’re keto, that no good, but if you’re just low carb you might manage it as long as you’re strict about avoiding the mainstream white carbs. Depends what you’re trying to achieve and how you personally respond to carbs, of course.Really struggling to cut carbs but still get enough fibre (30g per day).

It might have something to do with it, I just know I get pain (like colitis) if I don’t eat plenty of fibre.@cantfindasuitablenamehere - Is your issue related to constipation at all?
For me, when I am troubled in that way, I up my fat levels and it improves.
I live a low carb lifestyle, but don't particularly monitor fibre levels.
I have diverticula disease and hubby (who isn’t diabetic but low carbs) has colloid colitis and IBS, everything has improved for both of us on a low carb diet. Hubby very occasionally has high carb foods and it usually triggers his gastro troubles, you may find if you go low carb you won’t need the amount of fibre. One of the keys is to drink plenty of water but keep in mind coffee and tea don’t count as they are diureticsIt might have something to do with it, I just know I get pain (like colitis) if I don’t eat plenty of fibre.
That's super helpful, thank you.Deleted by mods to remove AI generated content
