how to maintain weight

Okay today i had a run like last time ...

Went without carbs for run

Started with 6.6

Finished with

4.0

30 min no iob.

It looks to me that my body is not using fat as fuel after 10 days. Can this be due to hypos i had (basal lowering) so i had to take fast acting carbs like honey to get out of hypo?

What am i doing wrong ?
 
You can take fast acting carbs to get out of hypos, and as long as you don't eat too much then it shouldn't affect your body running off fats.

The question isn't really whether your body is running in a fat burning mode, it's what was your diet for the preceding 72 hours before your run? If you ate less than 30g of carbs per day prior to running then you were running on a fat metabolism. When exercising you still need some glucose based energy, so your body will still use glycogen, and will convert protein (muscle) to glycogen if it doesn't have enough stored. What your macro levels in your diet look like are therefore very important.

Thats last 3 days.

I need to lower to 40 carbs now i am on around 70...

5th day was best... 6.6 workout finish also 6.0


Now ivam a bit depressed ... i hope it gets on track ...


Tommorow i will have 10 -5 - 10 - 10 ... so i get to 35 carbs a day...

I want my body to use fat when i walk so i dont worry about hypo....
 
I try to eat a ramekin of berries and double cream before my working.. (Gardening, so lots of energy)... This stops me from hypo's (no bolus)...

I am on a pump though and nowadays I can stay between 5.0 and 6.8 all day long with exercise etc...
The pump makes a huge difference to me.
 
I also have pump and thats why j am trying to find answers why i hypo so much, and no its not insuljn because when i am not moving i dint hypo
 
Tonight was what i want i went outside immeadielt i ate ... hqd sugar 6.4 .. walked 30 min came there and relax onn3h mark i wqs onn 8.2 which wqss great.,,, i didnt hypo ..l walk3d a bit more and finished with 7.7
 
Hi everyone my progress was going fantastic. Till yesterday : its npt low carb related buti have ned to write what happend.

2 days ago i found out after 3 weeks(tests need tp come for 30 days) that i wqs low for years on

So i started taking by prescription of doctor. What he didnt tell me that my severe deficit if i start taking b1 i can reduce insulin need.

I went out yesterday with friends ... it was 24h since i took vitamins

So i had 0.2 iob and i go and test because i felt weird. I was 6.5, come to table but i atart feeling very weird, muscles tightening, jaw ... palpatations i say to myself its nothing. But then i take honey which takes me out of hypo immediatly just in case... 2 min lTer i start feeling even worse .

I go to toilet i measure j am 5.2

What happens next i take sugar for coffe 6 bags, ad go home so someone can help me if anything goes wrong... 2 bags of sugar i meassure i am 4.2 ... 2 more ... 10 mknutes later i am 3.4 ... 2 more ...
10 minutes later i am 5.1 i relaxed than when i saw it going up

Was very stressdul... so i came home expecting for my sugar to skyrocket now ... i meassure after 1h i am on 11.0 ... i couldnt sleep whole night so i lower my temp basal by 40% and go sleep...

I go and sleep and wake up with 7.1!

Scared me sp much... it looks that b1 that i am deficient on did this ... i am going to doctors office to zcream on her dor not telling me... if i didnt react how i did it could have been fatal!

I lowered all mh basals by 25%

And now i have anxiety ...

I have 70kg male and already o am getting only 16 ui per day. With this i will be arround 11.

I have anxiety a bit ... and i think inwill meassure every 2g for next week until i see whats hapebing
 
Every 2h.. especialy at night ... cause thats when it happens
 
Okay been to doctor doses are reduced by 15% from 22h-8am

So pretty good no drop ...

Today i enjoyed life when it happend again just this time at 19:00

I immediatly knew it was drop so had juice 30 carbs + honey ... i put temp basal -10 this time

I had to do some stuff and had anxiety ...
so i keft with 9.1
at 22 i was 9.1 again ...
and now at 00:00 i was 8.7

So again i am having drop of basal rate ....
i guess body is recovering and lowering doses ...

I will have to wqtch out for next month ... and see what happens i am having a bit of anxiety when i am outsise of home but what can i do.
 
Hi everyone today my glycimeias were 5.2 whole day.

And i started testing for ketones in urine ... whole day i didnt hsve anything but today at night i had one + and glicemia 5.0

I freaked out and read all .... it means i have beetwen 5mg dl and 15 ... should i be worried ? Tried to find something but didnt ... can someone explain me this ? How often and how much should i have ?

Okay i figured out all... false moment of panic

Curently i am on 55gr of carbs per day ( i even have 2 pieces of bread per day ) and my sugars are beetwee 4-7 all the time ... meassuring 8 times a day cause i am still testing and my basal on insulin keeps falling ( today is 3td week of lch )

Now i am on basal 16 ui ( was 24 )
bolus 5ui ( was 15 )

I can walk to 2 h without going to hypo with stable sugara ...

Doses still droping.

1. How long do doses drop ? I read around 1.5 month
2. My TAG for protein looks like it droped from 1.5 ui for (160gr od ,meat ) yto 1ui.
3. It looks like my temporary basal after workout is not anymore 20% reductiom for 16h nu 40%


Having some wonderful result cant wait for bodg to convert completly
 
And 4th questiom is this its about TAG .... when inwas on 30 grms of carbs per day i was having 1.5 ui pee meal for protein (150gr meat) but it looks like its droping since i upped to 60gr of carbs.

Also i just walked for 1.5h

It waa on 1.5h since giving insulin.

Why am i having this drop, (of course its insulin) but what is happening with body.

Also i am starting to feel hungry troughout the day, maybe to little fat?

Your insulin dose questions may not get a response on this thread - better to post them in the type 1 section of the forum.

Sorry, but a lot of us low carbers are type 2s who don't use insulin , so we can't comment.

Hope you find answers.
 
Given that you still had bolus insulin in your system post meal, it is highly likely that had an enhanced effect due to the exercise, which may be why you saw your glucose levels drop.

It would be good to see what your food diary looks like. When low carbing I am eating 2000 calories a day (900 fat and 900 protein) and don't have a problem with hunger. As you say, you may not be eating enough.

With regard to your other questions, each of us is individual and the amounts we have to change our insulin by all vary. Your story sounds familiar (my basal has dropped by 55% on low carb) but in terms of how long till you reach your optimum stability? That's very much trial and error. Just make sure your basal and bolus each remains around 50% of your total daily dosage.
