Hi again all you good souls - this is only my second post,my first was over a week ago - but I have no idea how to return to it,to check the replies! It took me months to work out how to post on here - is there no system where an email with beginner advice can be found?

Hi, there is a flag top right, after your username, if you get any alerts they come up with the amount. Or, click on your name and then click on ' your content' and all your posts will be on there. Another way is to click on forums and all the sub sections will come up, so click on the ones you would like to view or to post on, good luck.
 
Hi @Briglad
The quickest way back to your previous posts is to look at your post at the top of this page.
See the bit that says 'Messages: 5' ?
Just click on the '5'
and you will go straight to a list of all your previous messages.
The ones you made on your first thread will appear on that list.
Then click on them, and you will jump straight to that thread.

Rrb: many thanks but I am sitting here with this page open and am afraid to close it. I can't see anything on the red banner at top to follow your instructions. Sorry to be such a divvy!

Have you signed in? All the message notifications etc only appear in the red banner when you have signed in.

If you look a the top of the thread, below the thread title, but over to the right hand side, you will see an option to Watch the thread? upload_2017-3-13_16-25-4.png

If you click on that you can choose to have emails sent to you when anyone replies to that thread. You can do this for any thread you want to follow closely.

I hope that might help until you settle in a bit.
 
Mr P was just alerted to your message so I must be but not sure if and how I did! Thank you for your post.

I don't believe it's possible to post without being signed in. We can read without logging in, but posting is a different story.
 
The easiest way to see all your posts is to look at your current post, look at the avatar at the side, then look at where it says "messages 7". Click on that and hey presto, all your posts come up.
 
Thank you Brunneria, but no there is no'messages 5' up there. Lord but on-line life is SO difficult!
 
It may be different if you are using an app rather than the webpages?

Are you using the forum from a desktop computer, a phone or tablet?
Sometimes what we see on the screen varies depending on the machine we are using.

This is what I see:



See the 8 under the red arrow? That is the number of posts you have made, so the number will increase as you post more.
Click on the number, and the page will refresh.

If you don't see what I do, then you are probably accessing the forum via a phone or tablet App.

Well spotted Brunneria - yes - from he app on this ipad. Clicked your link and could see 'me' on your screen. What hope I can solve my navigation problems then - never mind my T2. Probs?
 
With the app on the iPad in landscape view you will see on the top left the words DCUK Forum. Next to it a little pencil in a bad and then next to that three lines. Click on the lines and you will see your notifications about third item down.

They will tell you if anyone has posted in a thread you posted in or quoted your post.

Underneath the DCUK Forum words are various ways to view the forum - timeline, browse, unread, sun scribed and - if you drag it to the left participated. Click on these and they doe as they say.

Top right is a tick in a circle - that subscribes you to the conversation in the right hand box and I can't remember what the three little dots on the top right do but I'm sure clicking on them will give you yet another option
 
That mass of weird spellings and words is my iPad and it's weird and wonderful autocorrect

Forgotten my password I was about to say.was filling in the form to reset it but it didn't give me the chance - went straight to another forum page. Perhaps my email and user name was enough? Could scream with general frustration. Thank you one and all - guess I'll just have to go in by the back door not my 1 tap app!
