Have highish fasting bg levels every day 7.5-8.5. All other level are within normal limits - 6.1-7.1
On low carb diet which has worked really well for me.

I find that having a light early dinner or skipping a couple dinners helps bring it down to < 6 mmol.

The dawn phenomenon means that blood sugars are raised early morning. This is when the body produces hormones to tell the liver to dump glucose into the blood. You will probably find that if you skip breakfast that your blood sugars are a lot lower around 09:00 am.

It depends on how low carb your diet really is. You blood sugar may go lower if you cut out more carbs. I cut out bread and breakfast cereals first and later replaced rice with cauliflower rice and pasta with spiralized courgette.

I found that my fasting blood sugar levels dropped from being in the 6-7 range to the 5-6 range after I started intermittent fasting (basically only eating once a day at lunchtime at the weekends). Some other people adopt a 16:8 fast where they eat only within a 8 hour window during the day (e.g. 10am to 6 pm) to lower blood sugar levels. Avoid snacking too much and allow your body get into ketosis between meals.

You might find that actually you do not really " fast" at these levels. I used t think the same too, but then I got a 24/7 monitor - the freestyle libre and I found out that actually my fasting levels all night long were closer to 5 and the dawn phenomenom caused the rise in the morning. so I wasn't really at that high level for very long at all
It might be worth testing during the night to see if that happens to you too.
