How to remove libre 2 sensor

Hmm bra strap never thought of that I’ll have to try it next time I’ve got my little black outfit on hehehe , on a. more serious note there doesn’t seem to be much consistency they either stick like the perverbial to a blanket or they drop off with a fairies kiss , just another foible in the life of a diabetic
 
DN ripped the first one off that I ever had on when doing a trial. I lost a pile of skin. It bled! She was mortified! Now I always soak off in the shower rubbing soap behind and teasing as it comes away.
 
Reading with interest as my trial one ends today I really wish I could get more. My new meds can cause hypos and this told me I was having one before the symptoms kicked in.
 
I've got very little idea what this libre is. Although reading some of the answers, I am guessing it's a thing that you stick to your arm which reads your blood sugar levels without you needing to stab yourself in the finger to get a drip of the red juice.

I do hope that you have managed to get it unstuck by now, but if not you could try rubbing a bit of cottonwool soaked in nail polish remover and see if that loosens it.
I seem to remember using this method to get the sticky bits left by plasters off the skin.
Personally I prefer the pin in the finger method as it's helping me to not self harm as much.

Please let us know if you have been successful, and what method worked best... just so I can make a note of it should I ever need to know in the future...

Anything oily works just as well and your skin will like it much better!

It is unusual nowadays to use Acetone in Nail Varnish remover. Therefore, it is much less aggressive on the skin than it used to be

Oh, I had no idea!
Last time I saw a bottle of nail polish remover must have been some 35 years ago so I'm very much not up to date on it. :hilarious:
I do occasionally have my toenails painted by very young friends (every toe a different colour, does wonders for my mood) but I always let it wear off by itself.
 
I’m on my fifth Libre and am also having terrible trouble getting them off after the two weeks. I have really, really dry skin and they seem to stick like limpets - I tried to yank the first one off and ended up with a crescent shaped bruise for several days, and I could feel the needle going sideways in my arm while I was doing it, so don’t recommend that method myself! I’ve been using BioOil and teasing around the edges until it comes unstuck, which takes ages, so any other suggestions are welcome. I’m not keen on the nail varnish remover idea, given that I already have skin like the Sahara…
 
Baby wipes are my magic tool for removing sensors. I'm not sure why they work, but for me, they do the trick.

Have you tried removing the sensor separately from the tape rather than the sensor and tape in one go?

I remove the actual sensor first (the plastic disc), leaving the tape stuck to my skin. Then I slowly peel the tape off my skin, rubbing around the edges with a baby wipe as needed and using the baby wipe to get off the remaining sticky reside.

I’ll get some baby wipes and have a go with them tomorrow, as I’m due to take the current one off then.

I didn’t know you could take the sensor off first - what happens with the needle then, I presume it comes with it? That’s the main reason I’m being so careful with the whole process, because I can’t stand the needle pinching, if I move the sensor too quickly, or too much off true.

There's no needle under the sensor, just a thin filament.

The applicator uses a needle to get the filament in place, but the needle then retracts back into the applicator.

The filament is thin and flexible. I don't even notice it coming out when I remove a sensor, whether I remove the sensor separately from the adhesive, or both together.

Ah, it looks like a needle when you take the sensor off, and I can feel it pinching if I wobble the sensor too much out of true when I’m taking it off, so was assuming it was one (new user here, am on sensor #5 today).

I had to take off two today, the expired one and a faulty one (see other thread!), and discovered that the trick for me is to literally POUR a great dollop of oil onto my skin just above the sensor to be removed, ha. Made it much quicker and easier to unstick the tape and have the sensor come off with a minimum of messing.
 
The trick my Phyisio shared with me is to use and ice cube on bandages before trying to pull them off.
I use coconut oil, Vaseline, or any oil based lotion and work it around the edges, if it’s still seems stuck an ice cube for a minute.
 
The slower I pull mine off the more it hurts, so I rip mine right off.
