Hi guys..new to this form!

Been diabetic for 7 years now and this past while I've been feeling so unmotivated..like I don't want to have anything to do with my diabetes! Also I've just started uni so I feel that I don't want to show it either.

Can anyone give tips on how to stay on track?

Thanks

I stay motivated the same way I did when I quit smoking over 17 years ago, I think of my son. I want to be around to spoil his kids to death!

Hi @megs_3

Welcome to the forum!

I think once you start uni & find a new environment & friends, things might just change in that positive direction.
Making plans for the short term, achieving the goal. Then on to the next idea keeps me focused...

Hey megs :) you sound exactly like me when I went to uni..unfortunately I did the complete wrong thing..did as little as possible to look after my diabetes which I wish I didn't...and when I look back I'm mad with myself but what can you do.
If you've moved away for uni check in with the diabetic nurse in the area just tell them how you're feeling and maybe keeping in contact with them will make it a little easier. My uni had a gp, nurse and counsellor at the back of campus for students so it wasn't hard to get a quick appointment.
You know that six degree of separation saying it is so true and it's so much easier talking to another diabetic when you're having a tough time with your diabetes. I assure you there is another diabetic at your uni feeling and going through the same as you. So open up you will feel better for it..sometimes saying things out loud and getting someone else's thoughts on the issue is all you need to get you out of your slum. :)
Enjoy uni and don't think that your diabetes will ruin it or anything like that. I think if you get in the mind frame that your diabetes is just one more thing you have to do to get on with your day..like brushing your teeth.
This forum is great too there's always someone here to talk to day and night :)

Welcome @megs_3 :)

Your profile is showing you as a Type 2 on insulin but your thread title says Type 1. Can you just confirm your diabetes type? For now, I'm presuming you are a Type 1, so I'd say that you should take a look at informatiin about Diabetes Burnout - where we just get worn down by the daily grind of everything Type 1 involves.

I stay motivated by not wanting to let the diabetes win, and not wanting to let it control my life :)

Thank you for pointing that out..do you know how I can change that their is no edit profile?

You'll probably need to be on a computer/tablet to edit it rather than the app. Click on your avatar pic top right of the screen (the tiny one by the envelope symbol) and then click Personal Details. You can then change your diabetes type :)
