I have been requested to attend an HR meeting regarding my behaviour on the morning of a night shift when I refused the request by my leader to test my blood. The meeting is taking place as a means of finding a way to help me manage my diabetes in the workplace. However, when speaking to my leader he claims that I had agreed with himself and the occupational health department that I would come up with a protocol to help assist in the management of my diabetes at work and that I had not bothered to come up with a protocol. I myself know that I never agreed to making a protocol and have never received any emails or confirming letters regarding what they wanted me to do so how can they justify that I have ignored their request? And regarding the request to test my blood, I know my blood was fine and that I had just chosen to ignore my leader because of his attitudes during night shifts and feel as if he wants to put the suggestion this was down to my diabetes as an easy way out for himself.
Can somebody help me to find out if I am being discriminated against because of my diabetes in the workplace?

I'm just wondering why your team are homing in on 'managing your blood levels" as when I was working for Employers.. Mine knew nothing about blood levels besides me telling them that if I appeared to be drunk and glazed eyes that they should just encourage me to eat sweets or a mars bar.

Have you had previous incidents of something related to blood levels to make them hone in on yours?

Any instances of asking people for anactionto be taken regarding their health and well eing should be formalised with a written formal request. However, there is no provision in law that this HAS to be done. It would normally be done as a protector to employer and employee.

You are far better off speaking to someone in HR. You should be able to take a witness to all meetings with HR.
