Hi, I am trying to stick to a low carb diet. Aiming for between 50 and 70g a day but feeling so hungry. I am feed up of salad and veg but struggle to eat a lot of anything in any one meal. Slipped today and had a small bag of crisps and sent blood sugar to 12.3. Whoops no more crisps then. Looking for ideas of quick foods to grab between meals. I do nuts but worried about my weight. Any ideas greatly received.

Can you tell us what sort of meals you are eating in a typical day? It sounds to me like you aren't eating enough and not using fats to stop you being hungry. There really is no need to be hungry on a well balanced low carb diet.

I'm quite redundant here but I was always starving too. I split an avocado across 4 small meals as I cannot eat a lot at one time either. Avocado is so simple, mess free, filling for hours. Very friendly for bs as well.

Snacks.... well I normally don't do snacks as I find I'm satisfied after eating - but if I ever do get the munchies I have always got something low carb on hand - stuff like very high % chocolate (I like a couple of squares of Lindt 90%), then for the crunch I go for pork scratchings - I did try beetroot crisps and some mixed root veg crisps which were okay as far as my BG went but unfortunately I didn't like the taste or texture. I suppose, in addition to the chocolate, the things I snack on most are a small square of cheese, some cold low carb sausages, cold chicken or I will have a few raspberries.

If you are in to cooking there are loads of recipes out there for low carb snacks or cakes - some of them are really lovely - but I find if I get in to the baking and eating of cakes I will put on weight so I save the cakes for special occasions.

I usually start the day with 1 or 2 eggs. Scrambled boiled or omlete with extra veg. Lunch is usually a salad with chicken or salmon but usually add a bit of cheese for fat with full fat mayo. Followed by full fat yoghurt and fresh Rasperberries. Tea often meat and veg. Sometimes a burger on lettuce. Again try to make sure I get plenty of protein and don't worry about the fatter meats any more. My worse time is around 4 or 5 o'clock on way from work. Then usually at bed time but just ignore that one. My tracker counts calories and I'm only eating about 1100 a day.

Can you have a low carb snack on the way home from work to take the edge off the hunger? A bag of pork scratching, a handful of nuts, a piece of cheese, I find a cup of bovril is a great tummy filler in the colder months, I also love cold veg with a bit of oil drizzled on - do it when it's still warm so the oil soaks in easy to eat on the go. I love a bag of radishes to munch on when on the hoof :)

Cut some courgette in half lengthways and sprinkle with parma's sam cheese and roast for 30 mins. Get a spiralizer and spiralize courgettes, cucumber and half a carrot, some onion.Make a batch and separate this into Tupperware containers..Add a light dressing when ready to eat.Throw in some nuts, and celery...I have bought some high protein low carb bread..Morrisons do one, which a slice is 8 grams of carbs,so now and then I will have a slice with some cheese on.
