Husband eating hypo treatments

I have the same problem. Both my partner and children eat everything sweet I buy in for emergencies. I threatened to lace them with laxatives as @Jaylee suggested - but they still took them. And knowing me if I did and in hypo state I would eat them myself forgetting.

I hide them all now in. Places they wouldn't think to look!

Knicker draw is always a good one!

My OH has done the same. I have kept a start of jelly beans in the car for emergencies. Got in the car to find them out in the open with about 5 remaining and they were covered in ants. When I asked what had happened the excess was he had skipped breakfast and lunch and was hungry so he ate them and he had no clue about the ants. I now keep them in my drugs and stuff bag which I carry everywhere, he hasn't looks in that yet

I keep a pot of glucotabs along side my glucose monitor and my some glucose tabs in my car. Hubby wont touch them because he doesnt like them, but whenever I buy the party haribo sweets I can guarantee that I'm being begged by hubby for a packet.

This thread is horrifying! Depending on the age of the kids I can understand it but adults?!! I would be absolutely livid! nobody should need to hide hypo supplies - they need to be easily accessible. These people need to be told that if they take them you could die - if that isn't enough motivation for them to stop then I'd be looking for a new partner frankly.

I'd be tempted to give him a shot of insulin and then he would know what a hypo feels like then say sorry but some idiot has eaten all the the hypo remedies.

But of course you can't even though you may want to.

When i was a kitten, I used to munch on my mothers dextrose tabs. Loved them. but I always asked politely for them, and I never raided the stash drawer. One of the family cats developed a major addiction to polo mints. She would sit and drool over the packet and not let us retrieve them. I have never seen such drool, not even from my OH. Stringy stringy Yuk!
