My best advice is if you cook or prepare his meals, reduce his carbs gradually. Until he has more meat and less spuds, more good veg and less sugary things, the aim is to lower his blood glucose levels and get him feeling better. Try full fat rather than low fat as low fat usually has sugar in it to replace the fat and for taste, give him butter, buy whole grain bread or seeded bread, try and cut down on his beer drinking. And so on.
You can do this without him noticing.
If he does, just try something different that is lower in carbs.
You honestly care about him and you want the best for him even if he doesn't.
When he does finally notice he has you to thank and he might try even lowering his carbs more.
Have a good read around the forum and keep looking after yourself as well.
