hello guys I have a strange problem I m type1 since 2003 I was using Insulatard and Actrapid for 20 years last month my dr advised me to switch to Lantus and Apidra starting at 25 units of Lantus before bed the first week 6 hours after injecting Lantus I crashed after a month from 25 I went to 6 units of Lantus yet still after 4-6 hours I get hypo I tried to eat something like 20 gram of carbs before bed if I do so I wake up 2. xx mg dl if I don't I get hypo 0.54--0.62 mg dl and what annoyed me the most everyday 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm my bg start to rise it can go up to 3.67 mg dl like I'm running out of basal by that time and the problem is not my bolus I've been counting carbs for the past 15 years does anybody dealt with the same problem as that and what I can do switch to another insulin or brand pls help I start to lose my mind

Hi @Qagmire and welcome to the forums.
There are plenty of basal insulins out there so,not sure why your doctor is insisting on lantus?

I'm in New Zealand where the only basal available is lantus and I've made it work by splitting the dose, but it sounds like that is not your issue?

ah ok I got it from 25 unit to 6 unit Lantus still i got hypo every night and hyper after 5 pm my theory is Lantus in my body doesn't cover 24hrs and act fast then intended to be after 3 to 6 hours of injecting it causes hypo even tho I lowered the dose from 25 to 6 and bolus insulin out of the equation I'm sure
