Hypo and hyper

One day I got a hypo of 57 mg/dl at 03-30 hrs. Next day I got a hyper of 141 mg/dl fasting value for the same diet, and insulin dosage. I do not understand the reason for this!
 
Hello, unfortunately you can eat your same diet everyday but no two days are the same for diabetes. I’m aware you’re on a twice daily mixed insulin so no room for change.
 
141 mg/dl would be about 7.9 mmol/l which is still within the normal range, so not too high. Blood sugar readings involve more than food eaten and insulin taken. If you ate the same food at the same time and took the same insulin then one of the other factors involved was the reason for the different reading. Weather, emotion, stress, possible oncoming illness are only some of the other factors involved and there are likely more that we are not aware of.

Hi,

Quite simply, metabolism on any given day can play it's part.. Possibly the potency of your insulin can also be a factor if you are on a pre mixed insulin? Some "pre mixed" insulins need to be gently rolled in order to mix the contents. It's easy to forget to action this prior to injecting..

Diet; the same diet every day may mean food choices are the same, but variables regarding fat content slowing down digestion. Subtle differences in the carb content in the recipe. Possibly even the way it's prepared may change how it's digested?

There have been a fair few folk who routinely adhere to the same itinerary on a daily basis that rarely see the same results, day in day out..
