Hypo before a meal

Hi I am a mum to a 8year old boy with type 1 and he is on the pump.
Please can anyone advise on what they do with a hypo just before a meal .

have a quick acting carb such as mini can of coke or little carton of apple juice and dont bolus for it then continue as normal. Make sure bg is rising before you inject. Also it would depend on what i was eating if it was fast or slow releasing. i might bolus a bit later than usual say after the meal rather than before or extend the bolus
