To get over your phobia of pricking your finger I suggest you try one of these once or twice, you'll not even notice the current devices afterwards: https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/sore-fingers.111620/page-2#post-1343433

Another picture here with a lancet mounted: https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/who-remembers.11728/page-2#post-181629

It was known as the guillotine for good reason :)

What sort of finger pricking device do you have? I recommend the Accu-Chek FastClix, I barely notice it.

friend at uni years ago had a old fashioned fingerprick device more or less looked like a drawing pin sticking out a fraction with a V shape which insert finger a little and press the thing together then squeeze (on rare occassions required) if a largish droplet didnt appear. I've used that before and found that so much easier. weird eh. its not the blood. hard to explain, worse with needles going in and out veins.. in a&e i gouged out a little bit of skin rather than let fingerprick initially. dont mind cutting self to get blood tested :) weird huh.

caresens: carelance was given home to me. i can't bring self to use that. I currently use Microdot lite safety pressure activated lancets 28g/1.8mm. other brand ones been given to me a few times which i can't appear to do to myself. even thou they do the same feels different looks different just can't. irrational fears can be a pain to deal with. Its not a case of noticing etc. perfectly able and willing (and have done-) use lancet not in the device which prob hurts more than if using in the machine it was designed for
