Hey,

I've been diagnosed coming up to a year in April, and I have a twin sister who was diagnosed about 6 months before I was. When I was diagnosed, she had already got the hang of everything. She has always been very smart and likes to follow rules exactly, without varying. Anyway, I get hypos like she does, but I sometimes feel bad for a few hours afterwards as I always get a bad headache and feel tired and just generally unwell. This mainly happens if it is a bad one, as I am usually fine after a few minutes otherwise. If I am at school when this happens, sometimes I will go home, and they understand, and usually if it happens in the morning I will be alright again for the afternoon. But my sister doesn't believe it is right, even if I miss one lesson for it. Does anyone else feel like this when they have one? I don't generally take days off sick anyway.

(BTW, I am talking bad, like levels at 1.0-3.0)

Depends how long I have been low and how badly. I sometimes just want to sleep and recover. I can be shaky and foggy for hours later. I am pretty much useless for a few hours.

Yes - depends how early I catch the hypo. If I feel it coming and treat it early I can keep going as if nothing happened. If it's a bad one I can feel rubbish for an hour ... everyone is different. What are you treating your hypo with?

Certainly the lower we go the more time it takes for the body to recover, but your sister is fortunate if she doesn't get any ill effects from a hypo as many people do.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I usually use sweets or coke to treat a hypo, but we also have glucatabs in the house. It is good to know I am not alone in feeling this way!

Sometimes I feel awful for hours, like I'm hungover. I'm pretty much a write off for the day. Other times I'm back to normal pretty quick.
