Hi all,

Ive just had a bad hypo for me I am t1 I checked before bed it was 2.9 only thing I felt was my hearing go funny cant really explian this weather is pkaying havoc I thouht I was just hot but I think it was the start of the hypo I checked after having something sugary it was up to 4. Could there be a fault with the blood glucose meter? Or is it likely to change that quick? Also would you then normally check it two hours later to make sure its not gone bad again. Whats people advise for night time hypos please help?

Thanks Victoria

Most meters are accurate to within 15% of the actual value. I always wash and dry my hands before every test. I find that sweaty or unclean hands affects the reading. It doesn't matter what has been in contact with my hands, or whether my hands were previously sweaty and have since dried. This affects the reading, so I always wash and dry them first.

If I'm low before bed, I'll have some dextro tablets. Personally, I don't wake myself up and test, but that's because I'm confident that I won't drop again in the night. As you're new, it might be worth testing again in the night.
