Hi all. im new to this forum but not diabetes. iv been type 1 for 18 years this month and have had lots of downs with it. until about 4 years ago when I started to gain control HBA1c was 15 plus now about 9. this was after changing my diabetes care team from the hospital to my local surgery. since moving to somerset I ve been seeing a new team at the hospital; who have been brilliant and very supportive.

Over the last 4 days I have been having hypos between 5am and 7am im sure its the levmir but not 100%. im on levmir twice a day 18units am 6units pm. I was thinking of stopping the pm levmir as its such a low dose.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Not sure how low your hypo's are so difficult to give advice but rather than stop the PM Levemir, why not gradually reduce it and see if that works ? Speak to your DSN or doc before adjusting your meds though unless you are happy to adjust yourself. Keep records of all results.
 
Always better to adjust any dose gradually to prevent possibility of going from regular hypo's to regular highs. Good luck, Mo

Hi, What BSs do you aim for before injecting at night and at what time. First of all you need to work out what BSs is right for you. I use 20 units insulatard in the morning and 20 units at night and I inject around 9-9.30pm and I aim for a BSs around 6mmols. If things go well I wake up with BSs around 6-7mmols. Don't stop your night dose but try different injecting times and check that you aren't too low before injecting. Some people have a very small snack when they inject at night. If in doubt speak to your new DSN and ask about the DAFNE course.
 
What's your pre bed blood glucose like? If that's quite low it might actually be the morning Levemir you want to reduce.
