Hypos taking longer to treat

Hi all,
I'm now 32+6 weeks pregnant and have been really struggling with hypos. In order to get my levels in range of 6.4 2 hours post lunch, I need to have a snack straight away and at times even that's not working and I'm having hypos. Usually one jelly baby raises my levels about 0.5 and this still works in the evening, night or morning but in the afternoon it seems to be taken far too long to take effect. So yesterday I dropped to 3.4, had 2 jelly babies and then half hour later I was at 2.3.
Has anyone else noticed hypos taking longer to treat or anything else that's more effective? I really struggle with lucozade.. A - the taste and B - I find I need to be chewing to feel like I'm doing anything otherwise I sit and panic (if that makes sense) xx

I would say 2 jelly babies wasn't enough. You could try A different flavour Lucozade - it works quicker. Pregnancy and after delivery, and even during baby's first year, is a time of different hypos.

Have these hard to treat hypos started recently - ie in the last few days - or is it just a problem you've been having for a while?

When you say you need a snack right away, do you mean literally right away? If so, your ratio may need tweaking. It's a balance between tight control and avoiding too many lows. Were you given those targets by your team?

Hi @sekv I often found I was low/hypo and had/have lucozade. Are you pumping? If so do you use the wizard-have you tried altering your ratios slightly? Try changing them slowly and see if that helps. It depends how sensitive you are -my 2yr old is pumping and I change her ratio by 1carb as she is so little and sensitive.
I still get hypos now especially on an evening and the twins are 11m now I think it's just a combination of things (I still express a bit now too).
Have you noticed you hypo more through the night? I had pre eclampsia with my 2yr old and one of the big signs was I was having lots of hypos I think I was about 33w when they picked it up and she had to be delivered prem. Assume you are having regular ante natals? Make sure you speak to your diabetes team if you are significantly having to drop your rates xx

Hi sorry for the delay, has been a crazy few weeks. I'm on injections and am very sensitive to the insulin and hypo treatments usually.
I spoke to my diabetic nurse and she wasn't too concerned as it was only after the lunch time insulin that the issues were happening and to be concerned if all of my insulin needs changed. Typically that happened 2 days later! I'm now being monitoring daily to keep an eye on baby and placenta :-/ xx
