Hi can anyone help my son is type1 has been just over a year. Today he has had 4 hypos he been eating and drinking fine. He has been a walk and played football as well but had extra carbs for activity!! Can anyone tell me why this is happening?? Thankyou loreen xx

Does your son take his own insulin and count his own carbohydrates?

Yes carb count and use ratios. He on levemir am and pm and novorapid for meals. He is exhausted i think sleeping just now blood sugars before tea 6.8. He ate his tea....?

Its hard with children ...

I am assuming you know how to carb count and to match the insulin to give. However, are you conversant with bolus ratio's and changing them?

Adults would be advised to basal test or to leave 5 hours clear bewteen meals to check whether its the bolus or basal doses that are incorrect.

I would really contact your DSN tomorrow... It may well be that your son needs different ratio's for weekdays at school than when he is on holiday or weekends...

Has his bg levels settled down now? Not nice for the little lad to have so many hypo's in one day
