Booom ur having a hypo!! I used to feel the beginning of a hypo when my sugars were at 4 or just under so i could easily bring my levels up however the other day the symptoms of a hypo hit me all of a sudden i checked my levels to be find they were 2.3, do you stop feeling the effects of a hypo or does it take your body longer to register you are having a hypo over time?

Apparently frequent hypos can dull your hypo awareness. Have you been having them more often lately? Getting back in control for only a short while resets the clock so to speak according to the papre I read.

It certainly seems to be the case with me. Yesterday I had a 2.6 out in the garden because i didn't pay attention to the signs and finished the job I was doing. Later that day I also had a 3.7 which I would normally have picked up, but missed. Today after good control all morning and yesterday afternoon I had a 3.7 with pretty clear symptoms, so the reset had worked.

Do you just need to give it a bit of time?

I don't have hypos often but my sugars have been running at an average of between 6-5 after i seem to have my ratios correct, would this have anything to do with it?

yes if my sugars run at 10-12 for a day or two then drop to 6-8 I get hypo symptoms! I guess it's just warning a drop in levels no matter how high or low they started :)

I'm not sure on the time question, they say that the longer you have diabetes the greater the chances are that you'll lose your hypo awareness, I'm 30+ years down the road and still have good hypo awareness.

If the 2.3 reading was a one-off and you usually get the warning signs then I wouldn't worry too much, however if it become more frequent and you find yourself at low levels without warning then you need to act on it, as mentioned the usual advice is to run bg levels higher than normal for a while whilst avoiding hypo's.
