Many thanks for that. Strangely I have been perfect today. Why does it vary? Hope you get better soon.I've been IDD for over 50yrs. This winters cold bug has nackered me, I'm on t:slim looping pump but have had some very weird days needing double basal but only in afternoon and evening then reverting to normal overnight. Corrections not appearing to work or very delayed, also reverting to manual jab's to try and help. Been about 4 wks now, hopefully will settle down soon, hope yours does too.
I have three basal profiles, normal, X1.5 and X2 so I switch the profiles (when ill) rather than ghost carb or correct but this flipping bug has been testing at times and even with that corrections are needed. My day's are improving now and becoming more steady.Like @Chas C I'm on the t-slim,
Great your feeling better, just keep an eye on your BG's in case you need to drop back - hopefully the bug has improved too.I been perfect today, could not have been better. I would like to think it's the settings changes I did late yesterday. But that's just how it goes sometimes
I get days like occasionally this for no apparent reason, I am using dexcom g6 closed loop with omnipod 5 , I have to put in quite a lot of extra insulin to bring it down , on occasion it leads to a hypo but not usually so what happens to all that extra insulin I don't know . luckily it is not that often and whilst annoying I've learnt to live with itToday, I woke up and this omni 5 sent me from 6.5 to 10.5 by still be in bed and just browsing my phone. It's supposed to stop this but it doesn't. So I got up after an hour..Still highish, had 30carb breakfast, I pre dosed by 15mins. Still levels went up. That has been me all day. ****, I have had enough. I now find I have to pre bolus by 30mins to be much use. I even went up to 15.8. Also turned to manual for a long time with + 90% basal. Been like it a lot today. Including pod change. Only thing that started it to come down was a manual 1 1/2 units of insulin. I hate this. What a life we live sometimes. Not fair.
I can't do different basal profiles as I am on g5 auto mode. Also my DSN nurse says not to switch to manual.I have three basal profiles, normal, X1.5 and X2 so I switch the profiles (when ill) rather than ghost carb or correct but this flipping bug has been testing at times and even with that corrections are needed. My day's are improving now and becoming more steady.
yes sometimes if the pod is on hand skin it doesn't do well. I always have pod on belly and g6 sensor on my arm , generally works wellIt's been poor last Couple of day's. But i did a pod change today. What a big improvement. I have been putting it on my arms. So now on my belly after a couple of years. Much faster now. So happy again...
so that my pod lasts 3 full days I inject with meals ( after consulting the controller for amount ) and if I get a weird day where glucose won't come down I inject extra , dsn says it isnt recommend to do either but it works for me so they say carry on as you areMany thanks for that. Strangely I have been perfect today. Why does it vary? Hope you get better soon.
I find also, the higher I go the more insulin I need to bring me down. It seems pumps work on a set ratio amount to bring us down. Pity they are not cleverer than they think they are.Like @Chas C I'm on the t-slim, which in my experience very much depends on you having manually set the correct-ish basal rates. When my bg goes high I have to manually add extra insulin because I become much more insulin resistant if my bg goes above 10.... (My pump assumes the insulin correction ratio is the same at 15 mmol/L as at 5mmol/L and that just isn't the case for me.)
So once I'm out of range the automatic looping system on the tandem requires human (ie me) intervention.
Been T1 for 55 years and on a pump for 18 months. Yes, it's very frustrating when the pump can't cope but I still prefer it to MDI. To be honest, if I eat when my bg is already high it goes much much higher ... just because of that changed insulin resistance.
I wonder if you are coming down with something @richyb ? Lots of virtual hugs.
