Greeting to all the members!
I am a new member of this beautiful forum. I am here obviously because I am recently diagnosed with T2D. It was very overwhelming when I received my test results and the doctor said to me "you are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes". The first blood test was done on 12th of March 2023 and my HbA1c was 58 mmol/mol. All other tests (Liver Function Test, Lipid profile, Blood count, creatinine and electrolytes) including the blood pressure were normal. I am 43 years old, height 5' 10". My weight before the diagnosis was 92 Kg. It means I was overweight, I had other medical condition called sleep apnoea. In fact sleep apnoea was diagnosed couple of weeks before the diagnois of T2D. Because of the sleep apnoea I was not able to sleep well, was leading a very stressful life for over more than one year. I got my CPAP machine three months before which enabled a better sleep and less awakening, less dry thorat/mouth, less water intake during nights and my snoring has almost stopped.
After the T2D diagnosis, I changed my food habits, reduced my carb intake. In the 3 months follow up test (7th June 2023) my HbA1c level has come down to 52 mmol/mol. At the time of diagnosis it was was 58 mmol/mol. In the last three months due to my changed food habits and some intermittent fasting I have lost over 5Kg of body weight. Now I have a reduced waist circumference and I can fit into the older clothes. Also I try to ensure to achieve at least 4 to 5 miles of walk everyday. I did not take any medicine/treatment for the T2D to lower my blood sugar etc.
Do you think as a diabetic person I am on the right path? Do you think I could have improved much better after the diagnosis? Since I am a new member, diagnosed less than 3 months ago, all the learned members of this group can guide me better. For now this is all I have to say! I am looking forward to you for your kind suggestions, your experiences and food choices!
Thanks and kind regards!
