I am stumped, can anyone help please?

I'll be very jealous. If I'm right, it's caught in the English Channel so the further north you get, the less chance there is of getting it. I'm a southerner by birth and grew up on it. Living in Leicester, some fishmongers do the blinky fish impression when I ask for it.

We no longer have a fishmonger, I have to buy my fresh fish from Sainsbury's wet fish counter. I will let you know if I have any luck locating any.

Going back to your friend, WJ, if she's dropped her carbs to 9g daily the only way she can do that is by cutting down on the amount of allowed vegetables she is eating.

I would strongly recommend that she doesn't drop her veg too much. They are her only source of many vitamins and minerals, so she does need them.

Maybe another check of her food? eg Low-fat mayo is higher carb than full fat. Cottage cheese has carbs, if she's added that in without thinking - easy to do!

It may be that her metabolism has had such a shock that her body is stopping to have a think about things. I agree with the others, she must be patient. If, after 3 months or so, her BGs still stay static, ask again - our combined low carb brain power and experience may be needed!

If they start to go up again, she may have been misdiagnosed as Type 2 - could be LADA instead(?)

Re: I am stumped, can anyone help please?***UPDATE***

Hello, here is an update.

Fiona is in ketosis, has been for a while, has lost 2st3lb (another 4 to go) since starting low carb at 20-30g carbs a day.
Naturally she feels encouraged, delighted with the weightloss, and fitter already.

But this will make you shake your heads, last Friday she had a hospital appointment, the nurse shrieked Mrs Mc, you have ketones in your urine, you cant go home now, you need to be seen by the doctor, it would be irresponsible to let you go home ina state like this.
Fiona, smiled, told her she is happy to be in ketosis, that she has known for a while, explained about her new way of eating. The nurse was horrified, explained to her that she has ketones in her urine because she hasnt been injecting enough insulin, Fiona explained that she doesnt need to inject so much because of what she is eating, insisted that she needs to inject more insulin to get rid of ketones. Fiona showed the log book, not one bg reading over 6, no hypos either, she still didnt take notice, bleeped the endo again, kept insisting Fiona needs to inject or will be admitted to hospital.
Fiona burst into tears, she was running late to pick up her youngest from school, finally the endo turned up, listened to what was being said, looked at her record and log book and congratulated her on her weight loss and sticking to the low carb diet.

The nurse was left speechless, unfortunately Fiona had to rush off, hoping the endo will explain a few basics to the poor confused nurse; as a DSN she ought to have known better than this?!

Thanks to everyone for your input, I know Fiona is planning to join the forum herself in the near future, probably after school holidays.
