Diagnosed about 8 weeks ago but Blood Tests showed big prolactin so was referred to an endocrinologist. No gp practice help at that point or since. Had MRI the results showed small 0.3mm cyst. Endo not that concerned but more tests. I have been eating low less than 80gm carbs a day and doing at least 30min exercise each day. Lost a stone in weight. I just can’t help but see this as a life sentence. Watching everything I do and eat. Life will never be normal.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
What is normal?
Is it the normal that the food and drink that you are used to is a part of the problem that has led you to seek advice?
Or is it still the shock of the scan? There is always something that can be done.
I'm weird, I have had my GP at the time tell me and my endocrinologist confirmed it.
My body cannot tolerate most foods and I have to be careful what I put in my mouth that to be healthy, the avoidance of these foods is critical to my future health.
But because you don't have to be restricted dietary intake, there is room to eat your normal favourites, but maybe not the amount you have in the past.
What I would do now that you have joined our really knowledgeable forum and what works for most of us ab-normal diabetics, is to learn about the best way to tackle the condition you have. Of course, it's your choice, but knowing it is your health and it probably will get worse, that is your decision.
You have to find a balance, that is good and healthy for you.
Read around the different forums, especially the low carb forum and look at dietdoctor.com. it will give you more than enough information, where you can be back to normal. You are lucky.
Unfortunately, I can never be normal!
