I was planning to have yet another salad but just couldnt face it, even with loads of Hellmann's, and I knew there was a small Hovis Nimble loaf in the freezer - been there since before I started low carbing in January!
So I had 2 slices of buttered toast with 3 scrambled eggs, heavenly to have toast again! I was 5.5 before eating, 7,5 an hour later, and 7.1 two hours later. As long as it doesn't go up again I'd say I'm pretty safe to have some bread occasionally, although I'm going to get some Burgen bread instead as it has fewer carbs per 100g and just have the one slice 12g, compared to 2 little Nimble slices 16g.

First thing I'll have when my shopping arrives, 1 slice buttered toast and marmite, there really is no substitute! And the rest will go straight in the freezer, just got to control myself and limit it to 1 slice at a time

Hi Rowan, I find I can eat crabs as long as I don't have too many in one meal so what you're saying makes sense to me. And yep, there is no substitute!

I don't like to have too many crabs in one meal either, I am o.k with a bit of hovis nimble bread though .

The odd crab here and there is o.k

I have a box of 9 cookies, well 5 now, in my freezer made with almond flour (good), and brown rice and sorghum flours (gluten free (good); but grains are "illegal" on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (bad)). At 6 g net carb, 7 g fat, 2 g protein, 3 g sugar, and 100 calories, they aren't bad. This week I'm going to try to make some cookies using grain free flour for the freezer.

Some days, I just need a cookie.

Sorry, couldn't resist! The times I've typed crabs instead of carbs and had to go back and change it before someone noticed

I'm also going to try a slice of fried bread with a fry-up, some people here say they can eat fried bread without a spike, hope I'm one of them!

Hi @rowan , have you tried the Livlife low carb bread? It's also good

My nearest Waitrose doesn't have it often so no, I've not been able to try it yet.

But I think that might be the bread I really need, I've just tested again and I'm 8.3 after 3 hours, a rise of almost 3 so Nimble is not good for me, buggrit!

I love Burgen bread toasted

I seem to be lucky in that I can tolerate it. I have two slices toasted in the morning and I'm in the high 5's two hours after

I can tolerate the nimble, but only a weeny half slice. My waitrose are low on the livlife often too. There is also one that sainsbrys do - HiLo, but it's not as nice .

Yeah I do fried bread either in olive oil coconut oil or dripping.
I had bread yesterday with soup.
Be careful and don't rush into having these things everyday .... like I did.
I started to think I was cured but it isn't so.
I have reintroduced more carbs back into my life but got to stay vigilant and got to test test test.

I've put the brakes on already after my levels rose to 8.3 after 3 hours! I'm getting some burgen today so will try 1 slice of that, toasted, and another day 1 slice fried and see how that works. It's not so much the bread I miss, it's the toast!

I'm thinking it might not matter so much if it's toasted? Now the weather is turning nicer (at last!) I'll be out and about in my camper so can plan journeys to go near a Sainsbury

What I do is put a bit of toast on my butter .... helps slow it down that way.

I tried a slice of bread last week but got that heavy feeling, so have not bothered.

Luckily I have a Morrisons nearby so am going to have a look for this bread, however you can buy in bulk from the website. Just need to have enough room in the freezer.
