I cannot eat my favorite food anymore.

Do you reheat rice from fridge?

Be very careful about storing cooked rice due to the risk of Bacillus even if the rice is then recooked. Google will tell you the details…..

Yes always, for around 4 minutes, 'they' say you shouldn't do this, but I cool it straight after cooking it then put the pan in the fridge till I'm ready to warm it up and I've never had a problem and I eat it mostly 6 nights a week., 'they' also warn of the arsenic in rice if you eat too much and I've not had a problem with that either.

I would like to know how T1 deals with exercise.

How much basal insulin do you need to take (or reduce) say for a 2 hour gym or playing sports?

And do you eat bread/carb to increase energy beforehand?

How do you avoid hypos afterwards?
I would like to know the same thing. I gave up my beloved yoga as it shoots me to the moon and crashes me at any random time between 2-24 hours. Can’t deal with it. The rapid spikes and drops don’t seem to out weigh the benefit of exercise so it’s on the back burner for me.

Brown rice doesn’t spike my bg readings much so I can tolerate about 2-3 teaspoons that’s all.

I mix it with flax seeds to add more fibre.

Has anyone tried fresh or dried egg noodles and did it spike your bg readings?

Dont they still contain flour?
As far as rice ( never liked it) there are just some foods that the quantity I can eat without spiking have just become not worth bothering with. As much as I love broccoli it is awful on my bg. So making one floret isn’t worth it haha.

Brown rice is medium in the Glycemic Index so I’m still being very careful but it’s not as bad as white rice!

Fortunately it doesn’t spike me so I’m ok with it.

But if you can replace it with vegetables instead, so much the better!

Hi
I am Asian ; we eat lots of rice , 3 times a day. It's our main diet.I used to cook noodles and pasta before cooling thrm I mixed the in olive oil in then let thrmcool down for 12 hours before reheat in the microwave.
In South East Asia we have a high rate of Diabetes because of high intake of carb ( read it from some where)
If you want to eat the rice make it slow carb release.Take a look in this link:

I eat carb but between 50 to 100 g depending on on my activities during the days.

So if you don’t eat rice/noodles anymore, what do you eat instead as your staple food?

I’m curious to know.

I like to ask the same question because i myself is also an asian( chinese). I currently are avoiding carbs like crazy and totally give up on rice and anything make of flour.I do find para boiled rice and brown rice do not raises my bs so high but if can i avoid them. Potato also in my avoid list now.

We are all different I guess. My staple food used to be potatoes but I can’t touch that anymore. It would kill me!

Are there any alternative low - carb noodles?

I follow Diet Dr. combine with LCHF Diet.

I used to love sushi but cant eat it now because of the spike it creates :-( so I have sashimi instead
Sushi rice is not the same as other rice - part of the preperation of includes adding quite a lot of sweetened vinegar which bumps the carbs higher, unfortunately my other favourite food was / is the pickled ginger that comes with sushi and sashimi so although sashimi is fine I have to limit thevpicled ginger
My other favourite japanese food is kimpiri gobo (braised burdock root) which also has sugar in the recipe but it can be replaced with erythritol quite succesfully

Even sashimi will raise me if I don’t have additional fat with it.
Does the pickled ginger have sugar? I love that too.
I haven’t eaten sashimi since a few weeks after starting insulin. Didn’t get it right and got in a huge stupid fight with my son. All my fault, or insulin/ bs. I haven’t been able to bring myself to eat it since. Although I will top a deviled egg with smoked salmon/ lox now. Just bad memories through the learning curve.

4 piece of sushi and a bowl of unagi rice

Is that 4 out of a 6-8 piece roll? A 6 - 8 piece roll being about 40gms carb, 1 bowl of unagi rice is about 90 gms of carb. Are those the carb numbers you were working from?

Probably no need to give up all sources of carb, so long as you get the carb counting right.

Is that statement correct?

I'm not an expert. In theory, I think the answer is yes. A type I surely has a choice, eat less carb and require less insulin, eat more carb and require more insulin. If insulin resistance is also a problem for a type I, then the answer would be different.

My aunt and uncle who were both type I always counted carbs and never changed their diets at all. Sadly my aunt lost her eye sight as a complication of poor control, but both lived well into their 80s
