I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!

Just been to hand my prescription form in at my local GP's. Only 2 items this time, Metformin and Bisoprolol. The receptionist told me she can't issue me with the Bisoprolol because I only had 56 tablets in January and as I'm only on 1 per day, I should have plenty left. I said "I'm on 2 a day" to which she replied
"COMPUTER SAYS NO" " according to my computer, you're not. It says 1 a day". With a shrug of my shoulders I said "ok, I'll go and check". So off I toddled all the way home again only to find I was right. According to the letter I received from the hospital, it clearly states 2 a day, that's why I was running out.
So back to the GP's with original letter in hand and a gob full of well chosen words. Once these words had stopped ringing around the surgery walls I was quickly ushered into my GP's office. 10 minutes later after a very short under breath apology from my GP, I left, picking up a complaints form from the reception desk.
 
Yes, it's annoying isn't it? I had a similar thing happen a few years ago when I was due to go on holiday and knew I would run out of tablets the day after I got home. I was told I had enough to last me until after the holiday and to come back then. I explained that I was likely to be jet lagged and would rather pick them up in advance and was told 'We don't want you overdosing' in a very condescending voice. Like an idiot, I agreed to get some more after I got back from holiday. Yes I was jet lagged and got ill from the air-con on the plane and when I struggled out to get the tablets the pharmacy had run out. So I had to go without tablets for 2 days. Grrrrrrrrr

Just look on the bright side hey? The extra exercise has done you good........

Life is sometimes so frustrating. Maybe if you're on a roll Adrian, you could call my podiatrist and inquire as to why they have not called me back in more than a week (despite me leaving two messages). Ya know, if you feel like using those "well chosen words" again.

Glad you got it sorted. Not like you had anything better to do with your morning, right?

I had an ongoing issue with the local chemist (Lloyds). Once they gave me someone else's prescription, then their computer link with the surgery went down and they couldn't give me my statins for a week, then their computer couldn't read the prescription files, then they double-booked the consulting cubicle when I wanted a free fasting blood test (just out of curiosity.) Result was letters between me and Lloyds HQ and now that branch has to return at least 35 customers' comments forms each week. I asked to have my my prescriptions dispensed from another branch but the surgery ignored that.
I wondered if the fates were prompting me to give up statins but I chickened out and eventually carried on taking them
 
So many drug errors ....
They are meant to audit drug complaints ....
Do we always look at the drug name when we pick up our medication and trust the dose...

Thought it was more suited given your experience this morning .
 
And the moral of this story is.......don't go on holiday!!

Thank you Anna. Never thought about this forum. Probably because I'm normally very placid
 
You can say how you feel the experience affected you on here .
Jump on your soap box and say it like it is .

Yep you are usually jovial and easy going

Hope you are feeling a bit better now ?
 
I guess I'm lucky. My surgery only rarely makes prescription mistakes and corrects any problem or does an emergency script very quickly. Also my local Lloyds is very good.
