Hi @Millhouselady Like @Patricia21 you really don't need to be a believer to become part of the church community. Not all church's will try to force their beliefs onto you if all you are really looking for is support. Like Patricia I attend a church in Kent, the one I go to is Church of England, there is coffee and biscuits (I skip the biscuits lol) after every service and if you are new to the church nearly always someone will seek you out to talk and make you feel welcome. if you talk to someone there and let them know they you don't really have a faith but you are in need of support they would properly be able to arrange for someone to visit you at home. Some churches have social lunches a couple of times a month, you may feel able to attend something like this. people look out for each other regardless of your beliefs, but just because they care. A couple of weeks ago my 93 year old nan missed the lunch and because people care and she was missed, my dad was called. it was only cause of this call my dad popped round and found her unwell and needing to go to hospital (he hadn't planned to visit until the following day). Our church also has a toddlers group and they are always looking for people to just help make the squash whist the children are playing. it really could be a easy way to meet a few new people, even if you just slipped in towards the end of the service just for the coffee.
