I suppose I'm having a bit of a moan - sorry to anyone reading this - but I'm so fed up of being tired all the time, getting up all night long for bathroom visits, guzzling all day long and having freezing cold hands!!

Still haven't managed to bring my sugars down that much although I was quite happy at my fasting sugars this morning at 8.9 - lowest its been for a while! When I had my cold a week ago my sugars were around 19 for a couple of days, did I feel ill but the pharmacist said continue to take my tablets and don't worry about it being high, you've got a cold. My diabetic nurse wasn't too happy about this but my sugars had come down to 14 by the time I got an appt to see her!

Am waiting for my hospital appt but does anyone know if they will actually do anything about my diabetes at that appt or tell me to make further changes to my diet and come back and see us in 3 mths time? Also my current GP is rather miffed that when I was diagnosed as a Type 2 at 28 I wasn't referred to see anyone despite my BS at diagnosis being 23 and a fasting blood test was 13. Should I have been? Would my diabetic control be better now if I had of seen somebody? To be honest I had to push to test my sugars, otherwise they were content to let me carry one as I was!

Thanks for letting me air it off my chest, okay I still want to fall asleep but can do so now without wanting to cry
Guess I am having one of those low moments.

Don't worry fiona,we all get low moments!!I have to ask, what are you doing to help bring your blood sugars down? You say,'guzzling all day' Guzzling what!! Are you trying to cut down the amount of carbohydrate you eat in a day? If you read around this forum you will come across various stories of the efforts members have put in to improve their blood sugar levels. This was mostly done by cutting down on the amount of carbs they were eating.Your sugar levels were way to high and the nurse was happy with this! I would change nurses!but then you may not have choice,I suppose.

I don't know much about Diabetes only what i have read on this site i am waiting for my blood results from my doctor then i will know if i am ok or Diabetic or maybe it could be something else i don't know my fate is in the hands of the doctors so to speek.
I am sure someone on this site will answer your questions the people on here are very helpfull.
I had to say something though because you seem realy down.
it's ok to have a moan and a cry it's good to talk i hope you start to feel better soon and you find out whats going on but like i said i don't know much about it all, i am trying to find things out myself so i hope everything works out for you and i wish you well all the best Footy

I know how you feel. I am shattered all day, am weeing all the time, my hands and feet get freezing cold and I have drank over 4 litres of fluid today already. I could just go to sleep now. I feel frustrated at being so tired and thirsty.

Symptoms of uncontrolled diabetes.

19 & 14 are unacceptably high for fasting BS. Did you do after meal readings? (1 & 2 hour) Uncontrolled diabetes.

Am waiting for my hospital appt but does anyone know if they will actually do anything about my diabetes at that appt or tell me to make further changes to my diet and come back and see us in 3 mths time? Good that your GP was miffed. I was referred to an education programme which takes place every week at West Middx Hospital. Seeing somebody should result in care advice regarding diet, medication, foot care, exercise, & what to expect. Diet is likely to include: "Eat starchy foods with every meal" to quote from the NHS "Healthy Eating for Diabetes." That advice is WRONG. We can't digest starchy foods properly & they cause a rise in BG. I followed that advice for years, & proved the doctrine that diabetes is progressive. Starchy foods (carbohydrates should be reduced to around 100 g/day or what I did was simply reduce the carb on my place to about 1/3. The benefits were measurable at my next blood test & I have reduced my medication, & my weight & cholesterol, all within 3 months. I am also much less tired, & my physical activity is back to normal from being seriously restricted.

Would my diabetic control be better now if I had of seen somebody? To be honest I had to push to test my sugars, otherwise they were content to let me carry one as I was!

Yes. Especially if yu followed good advice.

Thanks for letting me air it off my chest, okay I still want to fall asleep but can do so now without wanting to cry
Guess I am having one of those low moments.

Now you've woken again, I hope the advice is helpful.

I followed my diet advice from the nurse for two weeks after being diagnosed - and my blood readings were better than when I only suspected I was (11 instead of 14 - two hours after main meal) but once I started on low carb I was MUCH better (7.4 after main meal).

Try the low carb route and see where it gets you... remember you are an individual and only YOU know how you feel. It's perfectly normal to feel down in the dumps (or better or worse) about diabetes - it's horrible.

We are all in the same boat here - and these people KNOW their stuff.... good luck x

Thanks for your replies everyone, I guess we are all in the same boat and my parents just don't understand. They are both of the opinion that the diet sheet I was given when first diagnosed is what I should follow!!

I have reduced my carbs which has brought my BS down but I guess they are still high at the moment.

I keep guzzling water, diet squash, herbal teas - hopes these are okay to drink!!!

I didn't realise that once your BS go above 15 and are consistently there you should contact someone for advice, guess I was never told about sick day rules!!

Well I've just managed 45 mins of Aqua Aerobics and am now totally shattered and about to crawl off to bed, who said I would feel better doing exercise whilst my sugars are high!! AAnd that exercise would bring it down!!

Night all!!!
