I have had an enormous amount of help from information on the forum, but also from just banter, which lightens things up for me when I'm tending to get a bit obsessive with the "D" monster. One of the things that I have loved is that the majority of people here understand what it is like to have to deal with diabetes, as empathetic as people can be, they can't truly understand without having experienced it themselves 24/7/365 as we do.
I's good to get a sense of the personality of the poster from their posts (as far as you can from written communication ) and whilst I admit there are some threads I actively avoid, some of the posts I do read can and do go off topic, which isn't always a bad thing and mimics verbal conversations sometimes.
I'm not good at reading the intro posts , perhaps I should do that as I personally found writing an introduction difficult, and lurked for ages before I got the courage to do so.
I take my hat off to those that did it far earlier in their time on the fora, and to those who consistently reply and make it easier for newcomers to settle in and ask the questions they want answers to, (And there's plenty of people who are brilliant at providing those answers)
Otherwise, there are whole sections on here I have never entered, and doubt I ever will as they have no relevance for me personally or I don't know enough about it to be useful .
