I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else with this combination and their experience. Especially drugs and diet.

Thankyou,
Peter

Thankyou., Pipp. I look forward to hearing from JEG. And any others in our situation.
I am impressed with the fact that my two posts on these forums had replies within an hour.

Hello @Peborgh, I know this combination, I was sent to the diabetic doctor, just before losing my thymus, and starting out with prednisone a couple of years ago. I always concidered the diabetes to be nothing of consequence until, it went too far into the red. Now I do insulin and a flozin for the past 3 weeks. I am not sure that the medication is good for my myasthenia or if it on the extensive to avoid list, but it seems to be necesary for lowering BG levels. It seems that a carb light diet is also in order, and that was hard over Christmas. I have not spoken to my neurologist about it yet, but that will come soon. How long have you had myasthenia problems?

I have had MG since September last. I am on Prednisolone and Pyridostigmine. I have a normal thymus. The MG is in remission apart from funny muscle twitches and occasionally cramps. I have had diabetes II for 25 years. There does not seem to be interactions between my two embuggerations (as Terry Pratchett used to say). I am, however trying to improve my blood glucose levels by using Libre 2 plus continuous monitoring. I have already discovered that I can probably improve glucose control by shifting my anti-diabetes drugs around in the day. I could let you know how that goes (at least in my case) if you want.
Happier New Year,

Hello @Peborgh, your lucky with the thymus, I still remember my doctor saying you must have that mass removed very quickly. I am pleased you have remisson, the twitches and cramps are sometimes caused by the Pyridostigmine. As you are doing a steroid, blood sugar resistance may be an issue, and of course the liver puts more sugar into the system. So removing the sugar with tablets and the Libra to get close control may be difficault, but I would be interested to see you try with tablets, as I failed when my numbers were in the high 20's mmol/l. My problem with the tablets was that I did not know how much insulin 1 tablet could generate from my islet cells. Also there was something interlinked between the tablet effectivness and eGFR.

I am still in a similar situation to you, but now have insulin pens to adjust the number of units, and I am constantly leaching away sugar through my kidneys due to the medicine Jardiace. I made my own graph from the finger prick results. and am monitoring to see if the dose is good by a form of statistical process control. After 3 weeks I am just within my guide lines of 5 - 8.2mmol/l.
I can take as much insulin as I want, so I could eat anything that I want, but I have adopted a strict low carb diet, and that is what really is bringing my BG levels down.
