I have to choose a insulin pump :S

(the PDM is also a blood test meter I believe), the Vibe's use of a CGM could be more accurate (although would I need to still carry a blood meter around also??). So many things to consider, my minds working overtime!!!!

The PDM does have an integrated bg meter but you can also manually input a bg reading so that the pump can work out your bolus doses.

Personally I just carry the PDM and don't see the need to carry around another bg meter, although I do have a spare in my car and at home as a back-up, but as @himtoo says you would still need a meter to test for ketones and I also use the Glucomen LX Plus.

Go on YouTube, it has some great vids of Omnipod users showing how the pump works.

Great, many thanks for the information, will have a look at this tonight.

no its not like the libre, and people have managed to extend the life of the dexcom sensor up to and beyond 21 days (ive managed 30 a few times). Its not like the libre that stops working at 14 days and wont restart. The main benifit of dex is low alarms ie it sends data rather than having to scan it.
@Engineer88, how is it possible to extend the life of the sensors? Is it legitimate or affect the warranty of them? If they can be extended, why are they only advertised as suitable for 6 days? Apologies if this has already been answered, but I'm confused about this? Am looking to go on a pump very soon and costs of these Dexcoms will be a deciding factor for me.
Many thanks

Hi @asa35 - as @CarbsRok suggested, take a look in the Blood Glucose MOnitoring forum. There are many discussions such as this: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/dexcom-and-other-cgm-hints-and-tips.90237/

Do you know why your local hospital aren't keen on the 640G? Some of the features (SmartGuard, if you can afford the CGM sensors) are amazing.

There are loads of Omnipod and VIbe users on here (@CarbsRok @noblehead @himtoo to name a few) who can help.
@tim2000s - information back: it turned out the hospital weren't against the 640G, they just weren't familiar with it to be able to offer too much information, and also the software is causing them issues. They will happily support me though if I decide to go with it.
