I suspect that overindulgence is triggered by a lack of nutrition - sudden binges after abstinence being the response to a lack of something vital.
My breakfasts of steak and mushrooms with a little onion might seem strange now that cereal is considered apt, but it would not have been the case in previous centuries, before Mr Kellogg started his campaigns.
Chocolate is actually fine, it is the addition of loads of sugar to make the bars cheaper which cause us problems. High cocoa options used to be more plentiful before the last price hike, but there are still some around.
Recently I have been back to more salads, now that the weather is warmer, but being bored with previous options I have been grating carrot and red leicester cheese, adding coleslaw, chopped beetroot and celery, grated radishes and sliced cucumber.
When there has been a cold snap I made Balti dishes and served them with cauliflower.. I made 'sponge puddings' using coconut and almond four as a base and served them with yoghurt.
Trying to eat just small amounts of higher carb foods doesn't seem to work for me.
