I've benn diagnosed about a year ago.Im 14 years old.In that time my diabetes was perfect. Now my blood sugar is so high and it won't come down, even if i take insulin.Maybe the insulin is not good.My blood sugar is around 20,25 mmo/l. Somtimes is hight without eating anything.Maybe i don't take the insulin in the right way.My blood pressure is everytime good, even if my blood sugar is so high.

I need some advices.

Hey pp123 how long have your blood sugars been this high? Are your parents and care team aware of this? Sounds like you might need some insulin advice. What was your last HBA1c?

Hi pp123. Yes I agree, contact your diabetic team or nurse. I have been like this, this morning, changed my novorapid cartridge and my insulin is working again now. Scary though. Maybe you need to check your basal insulin, again speak to your diabetic nurse about it, today! Also, where is your insulin stored in your pen?, if it gets too hot it can effect the absorption rate, or may even render it obsolete. Also look for air bubbles as this would mean you are not injecting the correct amount if ones is near the needle end when you inject. Don't worry, just ask for help:)

My HBA1c was 7.5 and i was very suprised about that

If you are high on a constant basis this is indicating that you basal injection isn't enough.

However, as you are only 14 you should be talking to your hospital consultants and nurses and your parents about adjusting your insulin.

It is possible that your pancreas was spurting out a little insulin before and now it isn't. This would be why you may be needing more insulin now.. Its called the honeymoon period.

When was your last hba1c taken?

When were you last seen by your hospital?
